Danza’s” showbiz credentials, and they immediately put him on the hot seat. Entering Northeast’s crowded halls in September 2009, Tony found his way to a classroom filled with twenty-six students who were determined not to cut him any slack. What followed was a year spent teaching tenth-grade English at Northeast High - Philadelphia’s largest high school with 3,600 students. Inspiring a classroom of students was an aspiration he put aside for decades until one day it seemed that the most meaningful thing he could do was give his dream a shot. Long before he starred on some of television’s most beloved and long-running series such as Taxi and Who’s the Boss? and went on to distinguish himself in a variety of film and stage roles, Tony Danza was a walking contradiction: an indifferent student who dreamed of being a teacher.

I certainly have some thoughts, but I think the best way for me to write this review is going to be to do my what I liked/what I didn’t like kind of review. It's the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone. You'll find plenty of laughs and sizzling chemistry in this closed door romantic comedy. The Bluff is an enemies to lovers, grumpy boss rom-com set in the fictional small town of Sheet Cake Texas. It's a battle of stubborn wills, and I don't plan to concede anytime soon.Įxcept the more time I spend around James Graham, the more I start to lose the one thing I refuse to give to any man. Not only am I going to help James launch a successful brewery, but I'm going to find out what makes him tick. Did I mention he doesn't trust me to do my job? In addition to The Cartel, FX also has the long-awaited Y: The Last Man TV series coming later this year, as well as Annihilation filmmaker Alex Garland’s sci-fi series Devs. And with Netflix, Disney+, and Apple on the horizon, FX is taking seriously the challenge to combat them in the content realm. From critically acclaimed shows like The Americans and American Crime Story to high-concept sci-fi like Legion, FX is home to some of the most striking stories being told on TV. This is a pretty great acquisition for FX, which has a knack for producing high-quality content that also pushes the boundaries of what you can do on television. Shocking in its brutality, raw in its humanity – it portrays Mexican cartel power struggles, the narcos and cops on both sides of the border, the traffickers and drug mules, lawyers, journalists, junkies, teenage hitmen, children seeking asylum, and political corruption from poppy fields in Mexico to the White House. The trilogy, massive in scope and ambition, follows a DEA agent, Art Keller, on a harrowing 45-year journey through America’s longest-running war: the War on Drugs. Honestly, CROWN OF MIDNIGHT was where I mostly stopped caring because that's when the book stops being a fairy tale retelling and starts being a knockoff Game of Thrones, only with more pining and shopping.Ĭelery Saltine-thin is probably one of my least favorite characters in the history of ever, and what makes it more ironic is that I've never had a character forced down my throat this hard. After HEIR, I had to take a break, because the book was so long and there were so many more characters, 90% of whom I didn't really care about. I started reading the Throne of Glass series in January 2018, starting with THRONE OF GLASS before working my way through the two immediate sequels: CROWN OF MIDNIGHT and HEIR OF FIRE. In his New York Times obituary, Joan Ganz Cooney describes Stone as "probably the most brilliant writer of children's television material in America. Stone contributed occasional announcer voices (such as the soap opera promo spoof "School in the Afternoon"), and served similar duty on two Muppet Meeting Films. The rest of it, such as what’s actually happening and the larger picture, is wonderfully engaging as well making the whole thing utterly and completely worth reading. You want them to be okay and for them to get through whatever it is that’s happening. The Spill Zone draws you in and makes you care for the characters so they’re your first priority. The story is skillfully told and paced and manages to do that tricky thing where you desperately WANT answers but you don’t NEED them right away. Friends of mine have sung the praises of Westerfeld for ages and now I can see the merit to their claims. The first collected volume is put out by First Second but was released originally (and currently) as a web comic. I was completely unprepared for how much I would enjoy The Spill Zone. This girl sells the photos she takes to art collectors willing to pay exorbitant amounts to see the aftermath, using the money to take care her of her younger sister. Of course, there’s one person who manages to sneak past the guards and into the town where she risks her life to take photos of the strange things happening within the town since the accident. Animals, buildings, and other random objects aren’t immune to what has transpired, forcing the military to quarantine the town from the rest of the world. What IS The Spill Zone? No one really knows exactly, but in this story, we see a small town drastically affected by an accident that has wiped out nearly the entire population and has done who knows what to others.
